January 28, 2013

This week in science we will continue with the investigations we began last week.  5th graders will continue to explore Levers.  They will continue to understand the relationships between placement of the fulcrum, load and effort and how that affects how a lever makes work easier.

On Monday, Pam (naturalist from Dodge Nature Center) will be here continuing her lessons on mammals.

On Thursday, 5th graders will go to the Dodge Nature Center for data collection and winter recreation activities.  Data collected will be temperature (air and water), ice thickness.  They will also enjoy smores around a campfire and experience kick-sledding.

STUDENTS NEED TO DRESS FOR COLD WEATHER ON THURSDAY.  PREDICTIONS ARE NOW FOR A HIGH OF 2 DEGREES ON THURSDAY.

6th graders will begin to look at Newton's Laws of Motion.  We will investigate and understand the three laws through various activities.  This will all lead up to a final project where student teams will design Egg cars.
