May 28, 2013

Remember this week all students and their families are invited to the Dodge Nature Center on Thursday evening, May 30.  It is a showcase night for our 5th graders.  The Nature Center will be open for tours and the 5th graders will be able to show their families all of the places they studied this year and some of the animals they observed.

Next week we have two field trips planned for the end of the school year.  On June 3, the 5th graders will be going to the Lilly Property in Mendota Heights to study landforms.  At the end of the investigation, we will eat lunch (picnic style) at the property.  After lunch the bus will drop us off at the Dairy Queen on Robert Street where students can purchase an ice cream treat.  We will walk back to school from the DQ.

On June 5, the 6th graders will be heading to Target Field for a Math and Science in Baseball lesson.  This is a great behind the scenes look at the ballpark.  Students will see the engineering of the facility, participate in math lessons associated with baseball and see some of the "green" features of the park.
