Monday April 18, 2011

Looking ahead this is another busy week for students.  Today, 5th graders began making topographical maps to better understand how to read a map that shows changes in elevation.  This is also to prepare them for the field we will take next Tuesday to Dodge Nature Center's Lily property.  We will look at how the land changes in elevation.

Today the 6th graders reviewed renewable and non-renewable resources.  We also pedaled the energy bike and discovered it takes a lot of work pedaling to light up 3 light bulbs.  Students saw the connection to how wind turbines and hydro-electric generators create electric current.  Also a good lesson for energy conversions.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19 and 20.  Students will take the MCA Math tests.  We had some technology issues today that prevented us from beginning the tests today.  Let's hope those are resolved for tomorrow.

Be sure to check the grade level tabs for assignments.
